The ability to regulate paracellular permeability in a reversible and physiologic fashion has broad potential applicability. Alba has developed a deep pipeline to match this potential, with candidate products in discovery, preclinical development and clinical trials.  Current therapeutic areas of focus for Alba’s lead products (Permeability Inhibitors) include immune-based disorders, a diverse classification that encompasses gastrointestinal, metabolic, pulmonary, and renal disease states, among others.  The ability of Alba’s lead permeability inducer to increase transport across epithelial and endothelial boundaries has resulted in animal proof-of-concept studies that demonstrate potent mucosal vaccine efficacy and increased drug bioavailability.
