Alba Therapeutics Corporation is a biopharmaceutical company focused on the discovery, development and commercialization of therapeutics to treat autoimmune, immune mediated and inflammatory diseases. Alba’s technology provides the ability to transiently, physiologically and reversibly close or open the tight junctions of internal barriers such as the intestinal mucosa and pulmonary epithelia. By altering paracellular permeability across these cell barriers, Alba seeks to develop therapeutic applications ranging from therapies for diseases associated with tight junction dysfunction and autoimmunity to vaccine adjuvancy and drug delivery.
As a development stage company Alba maximizes value creation by leveraging its human capital, partnerships and technology. Since the Company’s formation in 2004, the company has entered human clinical trials with its lead product, received Fast Track designation from the FDA (in Celiac Disease), successfully completed three Phase I clinical trials including a clinical Proof of Concept study, and completed its first Phase II study. Along with $30m raised in its Series A financing, equity and non-equity capital, such as SBIR and ATP grants and venture debt, are being used to develop products, enhance its powerful IP position and build the Company’s infrastructure and core competencies
